EMPower commissioned Brightwind, an Irish wind energy analysis consultancy, to perform a preliminary wind resource assessment based on the 2003 SEAI wind map. This report found the Coumnagappul Wind Farm site to have a Class 2 wind resource. Given an 11 turbine layout the park was calculated to produce enough clean, renewable electricity to power over 38,957 Irish homes.
